Milan’s furniture fair is the meeting place for the world’s who’s who in interior design, and you will find us right at the heart of it, presenting KARE’s stylish and flamboyant furnishing trends for 2016 at Salone del Mobile. The creators of our highly individual collections are displaying striking new design products featuring a surprisingly re-defined, light elegance in combination with out-of-the-ordinary decoration. At the same time we are celebrating our one hundredth franchise shop in the centre of this world metropolis of style.
Visitors to the KARE stand in Hall 14 are welcomed by man-sized canine figures which accompany design fans into the latest trend worlds. These include, for example “Gobi” in the popular ethnic look, a furnishing world with objects collected along the Silk Road which will add a touch of the “Thousand and one Nights” to your home. Oriental flair is radiated by the solid-wood ‘Vintage Romance’ cupboard with its traditional front decorated with golden ornamentation. This is furniture with real soul, conjuring up scenes from the souk where we can observe the ironsmiths at their work. One-of-a-kind articles of furniture, woven cushions and chased-metal pendant lamps are linked by harmonious colour shades suggesting sand and herbs. The most distinctive features of the Gobi furnishing world are its unadorned lines, distinctive shapes and just the right proportion of decorative elements.
Playful refinement
Copies of vintage bicycles are setting an entirely new decorative trend as surprising wall-mounted decorations playing their role as storytellers above the sofa. With our “Sixties Cocktail” we are also celebrating an exclusive comeback for the Nineteen-Sixties in Milan, featuring enchanting objects such as our new favourite armchair “Gamble”, with its stylish velvet upholstery and petrol colour finish. Its brass-coloured legs end in ball-shaped feet and give the armchair its feminine lightness and grace.
Materials and colours harmonise
An ingeniously created mix of materials with furniture for the living room adds excitement to the new furnishing trends for 2016. In Milan we are presenting the “Seattle” series made of solid oiled oak. For this collection our furniture designers carefully select untreated oak, retaining its grain, irregularities and original look as much as possible for the purpose of bringing nature in all its purity into the home. The style factor for the Seattle sideboards and dressers is provided by their contemporary, concrete-look frame. As a clever solution to the problem of the weight of the concrete the KARE designers have developed a material which is significantly lighter but still perfectly showcases the rugged charm of concrete.
The mix of materials used in the “Tivoli” chair will be irresistible to the touch. Our designers have combined supple buffalo leather with linen for the upholstery, while the sides are woven out of jute in the Viennese style and the frame of this highly unusual chair for the dining table is made of untreated, velvety soft sanded wood. Meditative colours in grey, sand, petrol, curry and whiskey highlight the modern elegance of our Milan presentation.
The dominant upholstery materials are velvet and leather, rounded off by filigree quilting, stylish buttoning and bold, masculine stitching. And because KARE puts the fun into furnishing, our trade fair stand in Milan and all of our shops feature colourful accessories, mildly eccentric but individual lamps, and way-out eyecatchers.
